  • Note: To conduct experiments, a sinusoidal signal generator with an output signal amplitude of at least 10 V and smooth frequency control in the range from 0,1 Hz to 10 kHz is additionally required.

Purpose
The set on mechanical vibrations is intended for studying oscillatory motion in mechanics, running and standing waves, including the phenomenon of resonance in various mechanical vibration systems.

What will the child learn?
The set demonstrates the following phenomena:
— Standing wave in a spring
— Resonance in an elastic ring
— Chladni figures

Updates
The kit allows you to teach the main stages of conducting an experimental study, and also allows you to conduct joint research with students.
Experimental setups are assembled on the basis of a vibration generator, which is installed on a demonstration table or clamped in a tripod.
The vibration generator is an electromechanical device in which mechanical vibrations of the rod arise due to the interaction of the field of a permanent magnet with a coil when an alternating current is passed through it.

Cast:

— Vibration generator
- Wire ring
— Rod for mounting the vibration generator in a tripod
— Spring with hooks
— Steel plates (Chladni) of different shapes (round, square, triangular)
- Rubber band
— Weight 100 grams
— Container with sand
— Connecting wire (2 pieces)
— Alligator clip on threaded connection
— Methodological support
— Software for conducting computational modeling
— Storage system

The entire set is equipped in a plastic storage system, which is closed with a transparent plastic lid on latches to ensure observation of the contents. All elements of the set in the storage system are located on the tray.

Methodological support
The demonstration set has a methodological guide in Russian for performing 6 experiments. The description of the experiments is accompanied by photographs of the setups, showing what results the teacher will receive during the demonstration.

Software for conducting computational modeling
The software allows modeling the dynamics of the development of string vibrations under periodic transverse action on one of its ends, in particular, ensuring observation of the propagation of the wave and its reflection at the point of attachment of the string.
The initial data for modeling are the wave propagation speed, the string length, the frequency of the external influence, the wave reflection coefficients at the string attachment points, and the coefficient characterizing the attenuation rate of oscillations during wave propagation.

List of topics, demonstrations and research conducted:
— Resonance of a spring pendulum
— Resonance of a thread pendulum
— Horizontal standing waves on a rubber band
— Vertical standing waves on a rubber band
— Standing waves on the ring
— Chladni figures
