Purpose
The demonstration set is designed to demonstrate the basic concepts and patterns of wave processes, study the propagation and reflection of longitudinal elastic waves, and introduce phenomena such as interference and diffraction, acoustic resonance, and beats of sound vibrations.
What will the child learn?
The demonstration kit allows you to perform 14 experiments, as well as conduct computational modeling of a two-dimensional interference pattern of sound waves.
Updates
Allows you to teach the main stages of conducting experimental research, and also allows you to conduct joint research with students.
The set allows experiments to be carried out on the vertical surface of a magnetic blackboard.
To create a sound field of the required configuration, a set of two speakers with an external sound card is used, and to record the sound parameters, a two-channel sound sensor is used. Both devices are connected to the USB inputs of the computer.
The two-channel sound sensor has two microphones with magnetic mounts, which allows recording the amplitudes and phases of oscillations at two points remote from each other. The data is presented both as an oscillogram and as a diagram reflecting the amplitudes of oscillations in two channels.
— Digital two-channel sound sensor
— Set of 2 speakers
— Two-channel generator
— Connecting cable (2 pieces)
— Ruler (4 pieces)
— Screen (2 pieces)
— Methodological support in Russian
— Software for conducting demonstration experiments
— Software for conducting computational modeling
— Storage system
The entire set is equipped in a plastic storage system, which is closed with a transparent plastic lid on latches to ensure observation of the contents. All elements of the set in the storage system are located on the tray.
Methodological support
The demonstration kit has a methodological manual in Russian, which contains a description of the experiments with photographs of the setup and screenshots of the software, showing what results the teacher can obtain during the demonstration.
Software for conducting demonstration experiments
The software contains 14 scenarios for conducting experiments devoted to the basic concepts of wave processes, studying the propagation and reflection of longitudinal elastic waves, familiarization with such phenomena as interference and diffraction, acoustic resonance and beats of sound vibrations, performed using a digital two-channel sound sensor, two speakers and associated equipment, with control of the generation of a sound signal using a computer and with the registration of signals on it.
Software for conducting computational modeling
The calculation model of the software provides calculation of the interference pattern during propagation of sound waves from two speakers. At the same time, the program allows you to set the coordinates of the location of the speakers, turn one of them on and off, set the oscillation frequency and the speed of propagation of sound waves.
In addition, consideration is provided of the effect of the weakening of the oscillation intensity with distance from the sound sources.
