Laboratory setup "Determination of optical characteristics of collecting and diverging lenses"
- Study of the basic concepts and laws of geometric optics;
- Determination of the focal length of a converging lens;
- Determining the focal length of a diverging lens.
The optical scheme of the installation includes an LED illuminator, a collecting lens or a combination of diffusing and collecting lenses, and a translucent screen behind which the video recorder is installed.
Optical racks moving along the optical bench are used to install optical elements. The first rack has a LED illuminator mounted on it, and when shooting the illuminator, a video recorder can be placed, lenses are installed on the following racks. The last rack is used to place the screen and the video recorder.
The design of the first and last stands ensures that the image on the screen and the object (LED illuminator) are captured at the same scale.
The work involves obtaining an image at different distances between the object and the lens and determining the focal length of the lens based on the data obtained.
To find the magnification of the optical system, the object and its image are photographed using a video recorder.
Processing photographs using the program allows you to obtain the geometric dimensions of the object and the image, and then compare the ratio of the characteristic dimensions in the photographs with the ratio of the distances between the object and the lens and the lens and the screen.
