Stand for practical training and project activities "Aerodynamic tube"

  • Recommended level of education:
    • — Secondary vocational education
    • - Higher education
    • — Additional education
  • Recommended age: from 16 years
  • Recommended quantity per cabinet: 1 thing
  • The computer is not included in the package!

Purpose
The stand is designed to measure lift, aerodynamic drag and flow characteristics in a wind tunnel.

What the user will learn
Conducting experiments with the stand allows students to study the basic phenomena accompanying the movement of any objects in liquid and gaseous media, as well as become familiar with the basic methods of experimental research in aerodynamics.

Updates
- Individually
- Work in pairs
— Group lessons

Measurements are carried out on a tabletop wind tunnel model with a closed working chamber, providing a flow speed of up to 25 m/s (90 km/h).
The use of a computer as a tool for collecting data and controlling the setup significantly simplifies the conduct of the experiment, processing and presentation of the results and, thus, allows students to focus their attention on the physical patterns revealed during the experiment.

Cast:

The wind tunnel model is a subsonic open-type wind tunnel with a closed working section and a suction fan drive, which includes the following elements:
— Air intake
- Honeycomb
- Air channel
- A working chamber with a window
— Built-in aerodynamic scales
- Fan
— Power and control unit
— Container with removable elements

The lift and aerodynamic drag are measured using 2 force sensors, and the dynamic pressure is measured by a differential pressure sensor connected to a Pitot-Prandtl tube.

The container with removable elements contains:
— A set of blown samples (aerodynamic profiles)
— Working chamber window with Pitot-Prandtl tube
— Methodological manual in Russian
— Software for conducting experiments

Metodicheskoe posobie
The methodological manual contains a description of the main phenomena accompanying the movement of any objects in liquid and gaseous media, a description of the wind tunnel model used to carry out measurements and methods for measuring aerodynamic characteristics.
The methodological manual describes 5 experiments, the scenarios of which are implemented in software.

Software for conducting experiments
The software is designed to collect, process and present data, as well as to set the operating parameters of the stand and control its operation during the experiment.
The working screen contains a window for controlling the wind tunnel and windows for recording data from the sensors used.
The software allows displaying data received from sensors and displaying the results of their processing on the screen - the dependence of the lift coefficient, drag coefficient and aerodynamic quality of the wing on the angle of attack in the form of graphs and tables.
A distinctive feature of the software is the presence of a function for three-dimensional representation of the distribution of flow velocities in the cross-section of the wind tunnel.
